Showrunner Rafe Jenkins didn't make the show for hardcore fans, and that was the right move.

says he always knew mega-fans were going to dislike the adaptation: “When we started out, we knew the show had to appeal to a huge audience in order to justify its existence. So we always imagined that we’d likely lose absolute hardcore book fans who’re read the series multiple times because the show would be too different from the books. And conversely, that we’d lose people who’ve never watched a fantasy show before because it’s too much like the books .

: lackluster set design, awkward direction, dodgy CG, some one-note performances, and just a general “second-rateThose are some pretty intense problems, especially for a show that reportedly has a budget of $10 million per episode. There are good changes and there is WOT…

I agree. While a huge fan of the books for decades, I admit that they wouldn’t work on screen without huge changes. Too long, too meandering, too much told instead of shown. The show and books are very different and they’re both very good.

Disagree. The book is so entertained that doesn't need this creative twist to make the series more appealing.

Gonna disagree with you there gizmodo The “creative” changes made to the storyline are anything but creative. Not to mention the acting in the show is incredibly mediocre. Was really expecting more after how much Amazon hyped up this show. Now I’ve learned not to trust the hype

I labored through the first episode and halfway through the 2nd. Felt like someone mashed Twilight and Dungeons & Dragons the movie together. Would rather watch paint dry

I expect you could fill a few sociology (or political marketing) classes solely on the apologist article about this horribly under delivered production of a show.

Well. Define works.

I don’t know why you’re still trying to push this. It’s unsexy, unfunny, and uninteresting to the max. Took me 6 tries to get through THE FIRST episode.

Airing it on weekdays makes a big difference. Glad ABC chose CWOF for their 8 PM filler leading into their special.
