Why the SSA Won’t Be Announcing the Most Popular Baby Names of 2019 Today

Due to the pandemic, the Social Security Administration is rescheduling its announcement of the previous year’s most popular baby names for the first time in almost 25 years. Since 1997, their list has been released on the Friday before Mother’s Day. However, due to COVID-19, the SSA has had to delay the announcement this year.

“Out of respect and honor for all people and families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the announcement of the 2019 most popular baby names is being rescheduled to a to-be-determined date," the administration said in aon their website. “The agency sends its gratitude and heartfelt thanks to everybody fighting the pandemic and providing vital services throughout the country during these difficult times.

The list not only details the most popular names for baby girls and boys from the previous year, but it also includes data on the names that increased or decreased in popularity and the top names by each state, baby naming website NameberryWhile parents can’t yet find out what the most popular baby names of 2019 were, they can check out the most popular names from
