These longitudinal surveys were repeatedly administered to these participants for time periods ranging from three to 10 years. Thus, changes in these factors over time were recorded. This also meant that Park and colleagues could determine which variables predicted continued singlehood in subsequent years.
Prior research has suggested that single adults are satisfied in their unmarried state as long as they have a strong network of friends to provide social support. In this study as well, participants who had high-quality friendships were more satisfied with their single life, but having these didn’t predict their desire to remain single. In other words, many of the people who were happy as singles still wanted to get married.
It’s also important to consider what goes into making a sex life satisfying. For instance, one unexpected finding had to do with sexual frequency. Namely, those who reported having sex the most were also more likely to be married when they responded to the survey again in subsequent years. The authors also point out that people differ greatly in how frequently they want to have sex. As long as they’re getting as much sex as they want, they’ll generally be satisfied with their sex life. Furthermore, there are also plenty of individuals who are happy to meet their needs through solo activities, and for them, the lack of a sexual partner isn’t even an issue.

I am neither old enough to philosophize nor too young to understand; neither learned enough to lean to one 'thought-school' nor too ignorant to hold an opinion. Yet, I know that 'family' shall stay the basic building block of society & 'marriage' the institution at heart of it.
