TheSandman's Kirby Howell-Baptiste tells us all about bringing Death to screen and why Sarah Goldberg deserved that Emmy nomination for Barry.

If you’d like to see someone making the absolute most with minimal screen time, checking out Kirby Howell-Baptiste’s performance in Netflix’s The Sandman is an absolute must.

With The Sandman now available to stream on Netflix, Howell-Baptiste joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to discuss her journey from acting school to becoming a Netflix series scene-stealer. A big part of that journey? The Emmy award-winning HBO series, Barry.

“We were allowed to improvise. We all brought stories from acting classes. Before we started shooting the first season, everyone who was in the acting class and Henry, we did acting exercises like he was our acting teacher for multiple rehearsals, so we were all so deeply saturated in that world and we all got to revisit the sides of us that were such scrappy actors trying to get our first role. And I felt like that was one of the first jobs that I’d ever been completely trusted in.

“I shadow directed on the last season of Barry and I got to watch Sarah Goldberg’s performance — this is also why I feel adamant about her being Emmy nominated. It doesn’t even have to be [an] Emmy, but just recognized for what she did.

Netflix Responds To Sandman Aspect Ratio Criticisms & Explains ChoiceNetflix responded to those criticizing TheSandman's ratio aspect. “As you’ll note many of the environments are surreal in the series and we often say it’s quite what a dream would feel like.” The Sandman is good but there are some solly changes just to be politically correct which annoyed me. Constantine is a gay woman and Lucifer Morningstone is a woman. These changes were not necessary but even Neil Gaiman has caved. stopthewoke
