Joanna Scanlan took the best actress prize for “After Love,” and Will Smith was named best actor for “King Richard.”

The awards returned in person after a largely virtual event last year because of the coronavirus pandemic. The celebration was overshadowed by the war in Ukraine, with several participants expressing solidarity with Ukrainians fighting Russia’s invasion of their country.

“We stand in solidarity with those who are bravely fighting for their country and we share their hope for a return to peace,” he said.
