Claiming the scientist’s work for himself, the Commander returns to find his bodyguard Nemesis Enforcer having thoroughly dispatched the Dreadnok biker gang. Upon learning of the kidnapped scientist, the Enforcer decides to cut ties with the Commander, claiming that the hidden society of Cobra-La has no further use for him.

The Energon Commander diverges significantly from the original Marvel Comics continuity, in which Cobra Commander was a used car dealer, who successfully built an empire off of a pyramid scheme. It’s also different from the 1980s animated series, where it was revealed that the Commander was a reptilian member of Cobra-La. The Energon Universe draws on both versions , as the Commander is a human character, adopted by the underground reptilian society.
