“His candidacy came after decades of LGBTQ Americans fighting to be heard, be visible, and have a place in the American experience,' GLAAD president says. 'Pete’s success will no doubt lead to more LGBTQ candidates in political races large and small.'

for the White House, Pete Buttigieg on Sunday announced the suspension of his presidential campaign, saying that the best way to advance his campaign’s goal of defeating Donald Trump “is to step aside and help bring our party and our country together.”

“By every historical measure, we were never supposed to get anywhere at all,” the former South Bend, Indiana, mayorto a cheering crowd of supporters Sunday night, before turning to the still-unseen impact of his historic candidacy. “We send a message to every kid out there wondering if whatever marks them out as different means they are somehow destined to be less than,” Buttigieg said. “To see that someone who once felt that exact same way can become a leading American presidential candidate with his husband by his side.

Roberta Kaplan, the attorney who defended lesbian widow Edie Windsor in United States v. Windsor, the landmark Supreme Court case that gutted the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013, found that there was much to marvel at in Buttigieg’s run. “If you had asked me after we won the Windsor case seven years ago whether I thought an openly [gay] candidate could credibly run for president in 2020, I would have said you were nuts,” KaplanIf you had asked me after we won the Windsor case seven years ago whether I thought an openly candidate could credibly run for president in 2020, I would have said you were nuts.

LQBTQ community America has this to say to you... FOX40

Boring. Sexuality is not relevant in politics. Pete was awful, so he's out. Period.

He never spoke for the gays. He never answered a question, nobody knew he was gay. But adults staging a 9 year old to come out of the closet at a political rally was just bad taste.

Alphabet people think that just because they, are in the slphabet, people are going to vote for them, don't work that way.

Thank you PeteButtigieg

What 'success?'

The majority of the people want equality, but a specific minority of society wants to be privileged. They will not pass.

Don't be ahead of yourself

Though Hillary is a woman, I voted for Bernie in the primary because policies bring equality, not one’s race, gender or sexual preference. Clarence Thomas is black but he has voted against equality with every opinion he participates in.The value is in the message & the goal only.

BUT HE HATES BEING GAY, IS A FRAUD AND A SELLOUT.

They will fail just as he did.

No success for drop outs.

Why is it so important for them to tell us of their sexual preference? They think it's cool to be different or are they trying to tear gods world down?

PeteButtigieg running for president was never about Buttigieg running for president, as Chasten explained Sunday night...

Who cares if he’s gay? That’s the problem with folks these days. Too worried about gay, colored, immigrant. It’s all bull. Best candidate should be up there, best candidate should win. That should be the standard.

Success?

This guy only represents white LGTBQ who like many refuse to include other races. Just look at his mayorship and the disregard of blacks and minorities.

We get it, they’re gay. Does that change how they lead as a president? No.

Hopefully future LGBTQ politicians have more substance. He was nothing more than an Obama-wannabe speaking platitudes. No substance.

His campaign is more evidence of progress. Young people know sexual identity is not a choice. Old folks were raised on fears and prejudice. Their time is almost over.

Good ol' identity politics never gets old🙄

Candidates gaining because of their sexual orientation is

Bernie Sanders is EXPOSING the Democratic party. He really seems concerned about the poor And the Democrats say that he's too extreme, and they are doing everything they can to stop him Which proves that they don't care about the poor Bernie has pulled the covers off of them

You are wrong Satan and at the end of the day you will be beaten by God

Pete Buttigieg to drop out of the Democratic presidential campaignPete Buttigieg has dropped out of the Democratic presidential race, ending the improbable and historic campaign of the former mayor of South Bend, Ind. Good. Guy is a fraud Like he had a chance 🤣 He narrowly won the Iowa caucuses and finished a close second in the New Hampshire primary. But poor showings in the next two contests, in Nevada Feb. 22 and on Saturday in South Carolina, suggested there was no plausible route to the nomination.
