Cleveland man approved for 767k payout after spending 28 years in prison for wrongful convictionState officials have approved a payment in the amount of $767,445 to Charles Jackson after a judge ruled in 2019 that he was wrongfully imprisoned in 1991. 27k for each year wrongfully imprisoned. This is shameful. $27,408/year before taxes, attorney fees etc. That's not nearly enough compensation. It's under 28 grand her year and that doesn't even begin to account for all the mental trauma, and who knows what else happened in prison. Ohio prisons can rough. Very poorly run.
