The new Forbes philanthropy score: Here's how we ranked each Forbes400 billionaire based on their giving

undreds of billions of dollars sit in Forbes 400 members’ private charitable foundations. But because the IRS effectively requires them to pay out only a tiny fraction each year, just a sliver of that sum is deployed annually to causes and communities in need. To shine a light on the billionaires who are putting their philanthropic dollars to work, we’ve changed the methodology for The Forbes 400 philanthropy score.

Additionally, we did not give credit to money pledged but not yet given out. Therefore philanthropists like Twitter and Square cofounder , who has donated 64% of his original fortune. The Hungarian native, now worth an estimated $8.6 billion, has distributed more than $15 billion to nonprofits through his Open Society Foundations, an international grantmaking network that supports advancing justice, education, public health and independent media.

I'd be interested to rank them according to the harm & pain they caused to various societies with their money which you refer to as 'their giving'. Investing in RegimeChange, betting against a currency and harvesting billions after a coup ain't exactly philanthropy. 🤡
