“Holbein’s paintings and drawings are the crown jewels of museums that own them,” the show’s organizers, John McQuillen and Austėja Mackelaitė, said in a joint email to Artnet News. “Such institutions can be reluctant to part with their most prized pieces. I wish I could see it!

I caught the Holbein show at the Getty last month. It was almost overwhelming, seeing so many of his works in a single show. And the sketches, the correspondence, the jewelry were such great back story to his work. I'm always taken with the details in Holbein's paintings. art
