In March, the Man & Woman of the Year campaign kicks off as hundreds of participants across the country—with and without cancer connections—race to raise money for groundbreaking research and patient-centered support services across LLS’ mission.

Diagnosed with leukemia at 20, Rob Hope would spend over a year waiting for a bone marrow transplant. After finally matching with a donor, he faced another month and a half of preparation for the potentially lifesaving procedure:"Those days were tough and were usually consumed with bone biopsies, spinal taps, chemotherapy sessions, endless medicine, radiation treatments and the customary prodding and poking.

As a medical student, Dr. Koduri found herself connecting with cancer patients—a career-shaping experience that's inspired her role as an oncologist for 18 years and counting. Even before launching her Man & Woman of the Year campaign, Koduri recognized how LLS benefited her patients’ care by easing the financial burden of treatment and pushing for more patient-centered services.
