Eight opera singers and a dancer have told The Associated Press that they were sexually harassed by Domingo, one of the most celebrated and powerful men in opera. The women say the encounters took place over three decades, at venues that included opera companies where he held top managerial positions.
The Philadelphia Orchestra has rescinded an invitation to have opera legend Placido Domingo appear at its opening night concert after an Associated Press story revealed numerous sexual harassment accusations against him. An AP story revealed many women said Domingo tried to pressure them into sexual relationships by dangling jobs and then sometimes punishing the women professionally when they refused his advances.This is the first organization to act against Domingo since the report came out Tuesday morning.
A half-dozen other women said suggestive overtures by Domingo made them uncomfortable. And almost three dozen more people in the opera world said they witnessed inappropriate sexually-tinged behavior by Domingo and that he pursued younger women with impunity.

This man's career has spanned 6 decades & in all this time, the public has never heard any kind of improper accusation but now, all of a sudden & out of the woodwork, there are countless accusers jumping on the bandwagon. Of course, it's all to be blindly believed without proof.!

Geez, so did the notorious Julius Baker. It was a different very sexist era. These men were awful and abused their power. It was never okay, but it was rote for men who had position. If he were still doing it TODAY, he needs to cut it out. If it was a bygone time, let it go.
