I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.

I am somewhat confused by a quote I’m reading from Craig Mazin, showrunner of The Last of Us, which will air its second season in 2025 after filming this year, a long delay from the first, heavily Emmy-nominated season 1.He says they are"28% correct…I’ve been monitoring things on the internet a little bit, people are very clever, they like to see where we’re shooting and then they have all these brilliant theories about what it means," Mazin said.

Everyone more or less expects The Last of Us season 2 to accurately adapt Part 2 of the game, just like season 1, more or less, did the same thing. Yes, there were some changes and additions made. The full Bill and Frank backstory wasn’t in the games, and Ellie did not meet Bill in the show, for instance, but again, the big plot points were close to identical.

I actually had to go out of my way to try and find the kinds of fan theories that Mazin is even talking about here: Another was that Abby already appeared in season 1’s finale at the hospital, though we only caught a glimpse of her.
