Porsche has been experimenting with a hybrid 911 since it raced the first flywheel-assisted 911 GT3 R sports car in 2010. Despite confirmation of space to add an electric motor to the 992-generation car back in 2018 and road-ready prototype testing occurring as early as 2020, no 911 with any sort of electric help has been released. According to a Porsche executive, that will be changing in 'maybe two years.
With room in the transmission for a motor and precious little space up front for batteries, the question becomes which variants will actually get additional power from a hybrid system. One rumor floated back in March suggested that the next 911 GT2 RS will come with a hybrid system, bringing total system output well past the 700 horsepower mark.
