The CRA requirements for this proposed project could possibly provide so called affordable housing of 40 units. And I say possibly because the developer is not required to adhere to providing such units. The developer can use a 'buyout'& pay a fee to avoid providing such units.

I was told by a member of the Northwest Civic Association that they were never informed by city officials of their intention to create this Riverside CRA, so they had no input in the matter. Just another example of our undemocratic city government.

The media has been made aware for over a year now that funds from the $50 million 2019 affordable housing bond package were deleted at the end of 2021, thus no funds were available for the entire year of 2022, yet not one of them would report it. I wonder why?

This headline couldn't be further from the truth and is misleading. The Northwest Civic Association member hit the nail on the head when he said, 'he sees the new community reinvestment area as more as a gift to the developer than for homeowners.'
