The Chandrasekhar limit determines whether a star ends its life as a smoldering white dwarf, or explodes in a supernova to become a neutron star or black hole.

, eventually becoming a planetary nebula that surrounds a scorching hot, albeit gradually cooling stellar core known as a white dwarf.

This isn’t the end for all stars, however. Some have enough mass to push past this white dwarf phase and initiate further nuclear fusion, a supernova, and the transformation into an exotic stellar remanent. What protects a Chandrasekhar mass star against further collapse? A white dwarf with a mass of 1.4 solar masses or less can’t initiate carbon burning but continues to contract until this is halted byThis is the principle from quantum physics that prevents two electrons from occupying the same quantum state and essentially prevents them from cramming too close together, providing the pressure to support the white dwarf against its own gravity. But even this limit can be exceeded. In stellar cores with a mass greater than 1.

No, but it will balloon into a Red Giant and consume the Earth.

It just gonna fizzle out into a red dwarf?

that’s… actually quite disappointing.

It has about 3 more stages to go before that happens and that will take a long while . .

Good to know.

Good to hear that 👍

As of now it will continue to radiate at constant rate till the time humanity would make earth self-reliant & shift to some comfortable location.

that is sad, I was hoping to see that firework in one of my next lifes

well one day maybe will be smart enough to feed

who knows what will happen ,as space has always surprised us...

This is a transformation world and everything and particles transformation

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BIG WIN FOR AUSTRALIA

The Sun is a relatively small star, so it will probably just become a white dwarf and fade out.

Woom

That’s a promise! If I’m wrong, come find me and I’ll apologize.

This is comforting...one less thing to worry about!

izbolicious dayyyymmmm!! That options ruled out! Mofo sun 🌞

The sun is intelligent it's going to be around for a very long time. Sun powers are brains . We're gonna keep it healthy and fix it at certain times in the future.

No, but it may burn out if the Earth continues on this path of depleting all that Solar energy. We Earthlings are so selfish.

True. It's not massive enough. But it likely will produce a lovely planetary nebula as part of the process of evolving into a white dwarf.

But that doesn't mean it won't ever give an explosion.

“Stars are locked in battles against their own gravity, all of which will eventually be lost” their life seems full of both brilliance and sadness.

Giant stars seem to lack planetary companions, and this fact has serious implications for how we understand solar system formation. But is the dearth of planets around large … Continue reading 'Even Stars Doomed to Die as Supernovae can Have Planets'
