Including carts and backpacks to make the walk home easier on your shoulders

Photo: Retailers New York’s ban on single-use plastic bags was supposed to go into full effect on March 1, 2020, but like most things, it was delayed by COVID-19 until October 2020. But, one place that still asked customers to bring their own bags throughout the pandemic was the Park Slope Food Co-op. In fact, they first discontinued single-use plastic bags in 2008, putting them “about 12 years ahead of the curve,” as Co-op general manager Joe Holtz puts it.

When he’s not using an Ecobag, Zelenko opts for one of these polyester mesh bags because he likes the “slicker material.
