Chick-fil-A opened fire with a jealousy-fueled subtweet:
It did not take long for Popeyes to, in the style of ancient Rome, catapult rotten chicken over the walls of Fort Chick-fil-A: This is, first and foremost, textbook social-media antics by brands. But this time, it got out of hand — fast. Wendy’s got involved, claiming the fried chicken throne for itself and receiving a response from Popeyes, as did Bojangles, which was quickly shouted down, and, uh, … Boston Market?
Anyway, usually this is the sort of thing — brands tweeting as if they’re people — that provokes groans and sighs. Especially when it involves fast-food companies like Chick-fil-A, which has continued to donate to anti-LGBTQ causes.
