TheBatman director Matt Reeves explains why Robert Pattinson's Batman won't crossover with Joaquin Phoenix's Joker:

✖ The Batman director Matt Reeves explains why Joker isn't part of the Batverse — and why Robert Pattinson's Batman and Joaquin Phoenix's Joker won't crossover. Set in year two of Bruce Wayne's crusade as a vengeful vigilante, the reboot takes place in present-day Gotham City. Filmmaker Todd Phillips' Batman-less spinoff Joker, about failed comedian Arthur Fleck's descent into madness, is set decades earlier in 1981 and has its own young Bruce Wayne .

Joker is an origin story for Fleck, revealing his transformation into the criminal mastermind who sparks an anarchist revolution that culminates in the deaths of Martha and Thomas Wayne in the early '80s. In The Batman, the infamous Wayne murders happen 20 years before current events — orphaning Reeves' Bruce Wayne around the year 2002.

In The Batman, the Dark Knight detective investigates a mystery involving early versions of Catwoman , Riddler , and Penguin .

I have to admit the joker might exist in batittison universe but joker movie it’s own thing.

Because DC hates making money.

The two portrayals of the characters are now so iconic, it's almost hard to accept that they won't be interacting at any point. While it would be amazing to see, it makes sense to keep them separate for artistic integrity.

There are a lot of good live action ones, but it's essentially the same again and again. How about something different, with a scifi setting befitting the Bat-mythos? Wouldnt even be a financial risk, with 'Bat' in the title guaranteed to make money Next movie is the sequel to the batman
