Ok now study the effect of breast feeding on a child's psyche

People who say they’re against physical abuse but think spanking is a normal form of discipline worry and confuse me. “I would never slap my child’s face or bruise their arm, but hitting a child’s bottom until they cry is A-OK!”

Corporal punishment was the norm for generations. Is the AAP postulating that generations of Americans suffered from behavioral, cognitive, psychosocial and emotional results of corporal punishment? Remarkable that we have done so well!

And here I was thinking it caused well behaved children who turned into productive citizens. America and the world has lost their collective mind.

Only child abusers spank. Period.

Don't think this will fly with Trump supporters. They only believe in autocratic tendencies these days so they would just brush this off.

Bologna

You mean they become Trump supporters Glad my parents never beat me

Sounds like more researcher bullcrap to me. Kids need boundaries and consequences. Its not beating your child when your correcting them. I wish my parents had spanked me i didnt learn til my older cousin did after i broke his friends car window while babysitting me

With this new evidence, I'm guessing that young Donald J. Trump must have gotten butch-slapped on a daily basis.

I was beaten physically, berated verbally, and subject to emotional abuse as a child. As an adult I struggle with depression, anxiety, and memory issues due to years of supressing memories of my youth. Abusing your child as a punishment is still abuse and has lasting effects.

Yes, they say that until kids become unruly; them they blame the parents for not disciplining their kids... SMH... There's a difference in spanking and child abuse...

😳

I was beaten, both physically and emotionally. It affects you. It really affects you.

Tons of anecdotal evidence of 'I turned out fine!'. The problem is those who didn't turn out 'fine' either don't know about the connection or don't voice it. It's like survivorship bias. Overall, it's lazy to spank your kids.
