FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Interagency Coordination Center deactivated the Alaska Interagency Wildland Fire Joint Information Center on Monday, August 1.
In a press release issued by the AICC, notable events that occurred during 2022 include a record breaking fire season. More than 3 million acres have burned across the state of Alaska for the first time since 2015. This year has also been the seventh time 3 million or more acres have burned since fire recordings began in 1950.
