National debt for the first time passed $22 trillion this week — a big, scary number that really doesn't pose much of a threat now but threatens to in the future.

Trump is incompetent.

What it really means is that the US has taken from the future and spent in the past on a vast number of things that do not secure its long-term wealth.

Good article overall. Missed the point that despite bringing in more revenue, US spending is increasing much faster....Houston, have spending problem. One other glaring omission: Interest on the debt. 250-300 billion annually with low interest rates....with no end in sight.
