Gerald Don Miller, 56, is accused of sexual assault and impersonating a public servant. Miller was released on $100,000 bond last week from the Hopkins County Jail in northeast Texas. Miller did not immediately respond to a phone call Monday fromauthorities received a report that a man represented himself as a CPS worker to a family, the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office said in a. The man told the child’s guardian he needed to speak to the child, which allowed him to “gain access” to the child.

One week later, detectives identified the suspect, who lives in Franklin County, and they recovered property from his vehicle corroborating what the victim in Lamar County described. Detectives said they also found evidence in his vehicle linking him to the offense in Sulphur Springs. The release did not say what detectives found, and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a phone call seeking more information.
