AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he will devote much of the Senate’s focus next year to education, including a parental rights bill and possibly eliminating...

, and while Patrick said his priorities are not about politics, he wants to deliver for communities where he drew the greatest support.

“The fact that Dan Patrick didn’t mention it today does not mean we think he wouldn’t continue to push for it,” Robison said. “He’s made it pretty clear that vouchers will be a top priority.” Patrick said his priorities are only “concepts” at this stage, but they should serve as a starting point for lawmakers as they prepare to head back to Austin on Jan. 10 for the next legislative session.

The concept of new natural gas plants has become a panacea of sorts for fixing the problems with Texas’ power grid that led to its near collapse in February 2021 and blackouts that killed more than 200 Texans. “Whether it is incentivizing them, whether it’s building them, whatever the plan is, I personally cannot see myself leaving this building knowing that another Uri can happen,” he said.

What a circus clown. As a Texan I'm constantly embarrassed he represents us.

Patrick wants what is the worst for the people of TEXAS

If Texas ended tenure for currently tenured professors, would it violate employment contracts? If he ended tenure opportunities for newly hired profs, how would Texas schools recruit against other universities? This is foolishness.

Lock him up!!!!

W

Great idea

Republicans are scared of educated people, minorities, empowered women, LGBTQ, voters in general ...

The “freedom” caucus taking freedoms away

lock him up! what a crazy mofo

you get what you vote for

The state university professors will leave the state or go to the private schools in Texas.

Really helping the people of Texas here. It’s so hypocritical to say you support parents rights and then seek to jail them over supporting their trans kid or abortion care for their kid.

Maybe he should move back to Maryland and stop being a carpetbagger.

How about he go back to New England and pass his fascist bill there

watch them work. the non voting public won’t even get worked up until they are bussing their kids or driving their kids “inconvenient” distances. no solution to fill the obvious gaps even if they had “schools of choice” to chose from. homeschooling will be your best option. sad.

He is an enemy of public education.

How about increasing funding for our public schools

Please end professor tenure

That's a good start.

Why stop there
