Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick cancels NRA speech due to Uvalde shooting

The Republican said he was forgoing his speech to the NRA convention in Houston three days after a gunman killed 21 in Uvalde.

The NRA’s annual gathering is being held in Houston, less than 300 miles from Uvalde, where 19 children and 2 adults were killed at Robb Elementary School on Tuesday. The 18-year-old gunman, who purchased an AR-15 style rifle days after his birthday, was killed by law enforcement officers at the scene..
