Uvalde shooting Texas House report: 376 officers responded, 'systemic failures' cited

The 77-page report released Sunday notes, in part,"systemic failures and egregious poor decision making" that extended beyond local police, including a family who did not recognize and act on warning signs and a school district that did not adhere to its safety plan, according to the Texas Tribune.A total of 376 law enforcement officers responded to Robb Elementary School on May 24, when the gunman walked in and opened fire.

Roughly 77 minutes passed between when the gunman entered the school and when law enforcement finally killed him. Video of inside the elementary school when the shooter burst into the building and fired into a classroom, as well as officers responding to the scene, was released last week.Up until now, Uvalde's school district police chief, Pete Arredondo, has faced the brunt of the criticism for the delayed police response.

The panel first shared its findings with Uvalde, Texas, residents during a private meeting Sunday. “The Committee issues this interim report now, believing the victims, their families, and the entire Uvalde community have already waited too long for answers and transparency,” the report said.

Hard to believe. This tragedy didn't have to happen.

This shouldn’t even be happening in America ‼️ How can SO MANY law enforcement officers and Politicians turn a blind eye to these murders? We all know it’s happening, so why do YOU allow it? We need top notch law enforcement agencies and an entirely new Government‼️ massacres

No one has mentioned the horror those children went through while LE sat on their thumbs. Willful negligence of duty to protect and serve

This unacceptable and needs a thorough investigation and holding those in the wrong accountable!
