El Rio Grande Latin Market in Dallas pulled together over 260,000 avocados to win the title.

El Rio Grande Market in Dallas proved its catchphrase that “everything’s grande in Texas ” is true when it earned a Guinness World Record Friday for its massive avocado display. The Latin food market piled up 86,764 pounds of avocados inside the store in an attempt to break the world record for largest fruit display, which was previously held by a banana display weighing over 77,000 pounds.

ON OUR RADAR: A midmorning update for local readers “Huge shoutout to our incredible display build team who poured their heart and soul into creating this record-breaking masterpiece,” El Rio Grande Market wrote on social media. “It took of hard work, dedication, and a whole lot of avocado love to make this dream a reality.” The location at 3035 N. Buckner Boulevard is selling off its record-breaking avocado inventory with a 5 for $1 special through Sunday.
