'Religious liberty won tonight and while that makes a great day for the Republican Party of Tarrant County, that victory also serves notice that we have much work to do unifying our party,' Tarrant County GOP Party Chair Darl Easton said in a statement.

Imagine thinking religious liberty won after a full 25% of top Republicans voted to oust someone over their religion. He is a surgeon, has worked with them for 10 years, and a better man than I.

It tells us they have much work to do to rid the Republican Party of rampant discrimination m

Why was there even a vote? The chair should have said no and anyone who thinks this is an issue needs to leave the group. Unbelievable!

The 49 who voted in favour of attempting to remove him should be named and should resign.

Religious freedom is not, about messing with the culture of this country. If that's what you want, go back to Yemen.

'Religious liberty' is probably what started this to begin with, but the Christian kind of religious liberty. The only kind obtuse Texans adhere to.

My GOD - you mean the Texas chapter of the American Taliban actually lost a round WILL WONDERS NEVER CEASE

So the Party of Inclusion pats itself on its back. Steve King sends his regards.

Don't be happy this shit failed, stay pissed it was even attempted... FuckGOP

unify party? don't you mean rid it of racism

So 49 of the 188 voting people, or just over 1/4, voted to remove this man from a leadership position solely because of his religion. This should feel like a somewhat hollow victory.

Just a reminder that Tarrant county is Fort Worth....not some rural county.

Wow, 139-49? So almost 50 of them are full blown racist bigots and are willing to vote such. The Republican Party represents a clear and present danger to the USA.

What an asinine spin on what should be an utter embarrassment for all involved.

NBC is for Religious liberty but only if it’s Islam. BuildTheWall

Why would a Muslim join the GOP. Republicans hate Muslims.
