The state of Texas has legally birthed an unaccountable posse empowered to wreak havoc on anyone even tangentially involved with abortion rights.

Though the Supreme Court last week declined to rule on the law's constitutionality, S.B. 8 is certain to face numerous legal challenges — as it should.
