Julius Marble and Texas A&M have shown Southeastern Conference foes Tre Gomillion and Missouri the Aggies will be a force to be reckoned with in the league this season.COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M guard Dexter Dennis leaned into the microphone during a postgame press conference with his own question concerning his baritone-voiced, even-keeled teammate Julius Marble seated next to him.
“They were tougher than us and just punked us from start to finish,” A&M coach Buzz Williams said in particular of the Aggies’ 28-point loss to Colorado in mid-November in the Myrtle Beach Classic in South Carolina. “We had no fight, no effort and no togetherness. Murray State — they hit us in the mouth, and we were wondering why they were being so mean.”
Kentucky leads the all-time series 12-4, but two of the Aggies’ four wins have been in Rupp Arena, in 1978 and 2013, the latter A&M’s first basketball season in the SEC. The Aggies and Wildcats have won nine consecutive games between them entering Saturday’s matinee.
