Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company is giving all compatible vehicles a one month trial of its Full Self-Driving Beta.

Buckle up, buckaroos. Every Tesla around you might be driving itself over the next month if Elon Musk has anything to say about it. So, keep an eye on all of those Teslas surrounding you on the highway over the month of April. Tesla's Full Self-Driving Beta has been around for years now and has yet to live up to Elon Musk's age-old promise that you'll be able to send your vehicle off as a robo-taxi to earn you money.

Poor Safety Ratings for Tesla's Autopilot and Other Self-Driving SystemsThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave poor safety ratings to several self-driving systems, including Tesla's Autopilot and Full Self-Driving functions. This raises concerns about the safety of automated features on highways. The assessment covered 14 partial driving automation features from BMW, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Tesla, and Volvo. None of the systems received a good rating, with the Lexus LS Teammate system being rated as the best with an acceptable rating. The GMC Sierra and Nissan Ariya offered self-driving systems with marginal ratings. The IIHS emphasized the need for driver involvement and attention despite the systems being marketed as self-driving.
