. The Zr isotopic composition of two terrestrial rock standards processed along with the samples are indistinguishable from the solution standard. The Zr isotope data of the martian meteorites and the terrestrial basalt standards are provided in the table S2. All martian meteorites have indistinguishable Zr isotope anomalies with a mean εZr=0.28 ± 0.03.
This is because any potential heterogeneity resulting from accretion of isotopically heterogeneous building blocks should have been erased by subsequent melting of the martian mantle and homogenization within a martian magma ocean. This is consistent with the lack of resolved Zr and Ti isotope variations among individual martian meteorites derived from distinct mantle sources observed in this study .
