This isn’t how AirTags work. They likely ran into 1 of 2 scenarios: 1. Someone was setting up an AirTag near them and their device picked it up 2. They accidentally found a lost Airtag by clicking on something Criminals aren’t gonna be like “hey, let me connect this to you” So someone dropped it in one of their bags. But I don't get, how did apple notify them? How did apple know the air tag wasn't theirs? Probably one of the worst articles I read.
