I’m a builder and contractor who is out of work due to the shutdown. If the Dems would quit their political games I could be building a beautiful wall to keep drugs and human trafficking out of America!

Mitch McConnell, trying to stay invisible in all of this, is complicit. If he allowed the senate to vote on the house bill, there would no longer be a shutdown. Shame on him. Clearly, partisan politics overrules the will of the people. Hold him accountable.
Air traffic controller here. This unnecessary stressor is a fine addition to delicate recipe that is safety of air travel. But don't worry, my colleagues and I will continue to do everything we can to make sure we're the last thing on your mind when you travel by air.
IRS says tax refunds are going out still, but what about student loans? A lot of people rely on those, and disbursements are supposed to come out this month...
We're working without pay. Means not paying mortgage utilities loans bills and soon food. They laugh when you explain you're a federal employee and can you delay expected payment? Come the 15th there will be 800,000 faithfull deligent hungry employees past due on all bills...

Half of my household works for NOAA. Aside from no pay, concern is what are consequences during hurricane/cyclone season.
I called the IRS and they had a message to call back after the shutdown so now I’m watching family guy!
Why should I (we) pay taxes if the government is shut down? The only reason I pay is to keep the government running. Trump shut down the government, maybe he can explain why we should be paying for his mistakes.

If something doesn't change before much longer because that is our hometown and where we have a stronger support system. We've only been in KC, MO for a year n a half and don't know too many people. I've just been focused on work n family :/

Electrician who would approve the electrical work is off due to the shut down!!! So it's definately putting I and my two little girls in a very tough place. I am scrambling to find work that pays me enough on an associates degree to cover childcare expenses.

I have a good friend who is a 3L law student. Monday she was supposed to start her capstone internship at the DoJ. She has to scramble to find some other law internship for credit before add/drop ends so she can graduate this spring on time, take the Bar, get a job.
Other than not getting a paycheck, not at all.

New project for gov't contractor was supposed to start Jan 7. On hold until the contractor thinks it might be paid. I am not working until the project starts.

Wait a little. When the insurance lapses because the government did not pay the premiums, and the federal employees have neither pay nor healthcare, it will get real interesting.
Certain individuals are not getting their passports because the IRS is not able to review their cases. Certain others may not get their passports in time for travel because their cases are extremely slow to be reviewed and cleared by Legal.
