Olga Flores has traveled from California to her hometown of San Antonio every year for the past 26 years. The reason she makes the hours-long drive is not to visit relatives, but to gather with another type of family — her fellow conjunto music fans. “We’re getting older so we’ve got to do it while we can,” said Flores, 76, who has made the trip from her Apple Valley , Calif., home to San Antonio for the annual Tejano Conjunto Festival since 1998.

She reunites with many of the same music fans and longtime festival goers every year. This year, she drove with a couple — her compadres, she said — who also live in California and have made the same trip to the festival every year.
