Teddi Mellencamp Shares a Bruised Selfie After a Vertigo-Related Fainting Spell

in the middle of the night this weekend, which resulted in her taking a scary tumble and suffering some minor injuries to her face.

Mellencamp posted a photo of herself to Instagram, sporting a cut on her lip and bruising on her face. In the caption, thealum asked followers for “any hot tips on how to get rid of vertigo" and recounted the story of what happened. The incident occurred at 4 a.m., when Mellencamp's 8-year-old daughter, Slate, called out for her mom, who came running. “Slate yelled out for me to please come to her room, and as any Mom would I jumped up at [Mach] speed and sprinted in there,” Mellencamp said.

But by the time Mellencamp got to her daughter's bedroom, she lost consciousness. “My eyes went black and I fainted and busted open my cheek and lip,” Mellencamp wrote. In an Instagram story the following morning, Mellencamp shared a photo showing some more bruising around her eye—and added that two of her teeth felt loose as well, perWhile Mellencamp suffered some wounds, she is grateful things mostly turned out okay for both her and her daughter.

Mellencamp isn't sure what caused her fainting episode and said she planned to make a doctor's appointment this week. In the meantime, Mellencamp is avoiding reading online sources that might trigger runaway trains of thought. “I can’t go onto WebMD because it sends me spiraling,” Mellencamp wrote. But she is accepting advice for getting rid of her vertigo in her comments section. “Any tips appreciated,” she said.
