In a series of votes that scrambled the usual political lines in the Senate on Thursday, Cruz and a handful of other Republicans backed an unsuccessful amendment by Sanders to add seven sick days to a compromise labor agreement Congress is scrambling to pass to avoid a rail strike. The amendment failed to draw the necessary 60 votes to pass, with U.S. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas among those opposing it.

"Given that Congress voted down our amendment and decided to step into these negotiations, I believe the rail workers are making reasonable requests that should be adequately addressed," Cruz said in a statement."For that reason, I voted to increase the number of paid sick days for rail workers."The compromise labor agreement, brokered by the Biden administration, now heads to the president's desk.

He's looking out for his constituents.

You misspelled “asshole”

Because they both support the working man - unlike Democrats who would rather take the corporate donations. Democrats HATE working people.

I don’t know but I’d bet Cruz replied “ the RRs never gave me any money “

How many sick days does “Cancun” Teddy and his cohorts receive a year?

So did we.

I thought tedcruz was in Georgia with LindseyGrahamSC , grooming HerschelWalker

That's not socialism that's fair! All American workers get a week sick leave. Why not rail workers?

tedcruz That might be “big government” but it is not socialism. Beside, rail industry is so heavily subsidized, they are practically gov’t employees.

tedcruz I’m unsure of how much sick time the railroad employees get, but I’m pretty sure it’s none of the government’s business

tedcruz Sicks days are important for every employee and that's just a right thing to do

Well that is BS. CRUZ belives in doing the tight thing. Not Socialism. Only in a marxist society would eorkers never get sick leave. Fix the RR!

tedcruz According to DJT your still ugly

tedcruz The Federal Government is forcing a private company to give its employees benefits? Why?

You can’t please a democrat if you’re a republican avd vice versa these days. Politicians are ridiculous.

tedcruz That’s not what socialism means

tedcruz And I thought Bernie Sanders was a communist

tedcruz Proving that the Senate is nothing more than an elite country club with only 100 members.

tedcruz If they did why are you so surprised? It’s the right thing to do.They work hard ,so when they are sick should be paid sick pay. Most of you don’t work just complain. That will stop if we lose our freedom. That’s a fact,

tedcruz On the surface, I have to agree with the Dems on the sick leave. Of course, 'the Devil's in the details' so, without knowing what other woke JUNK got folded into this bill, I'll reserve judgment.

tedcruz Why would you support this? They already have more paid time off then any other industry in the US and they need another week in to off that? Very disappointed in

tedcruz Glad you voted for our hard workers. Good job Senator. They deserve the sick days.

tedcruz Hows sickleave a socialist thing different company's have different rules on taking any kind of leaves of absence the rail company prolly has shitty rules when it comes too time off

tedcruz

tedcruz The GOP is the party of the uneducated. Democrat Presidents have added 3.14x more jobs than Republicans since 1977, while Republicans have had more time in office. Jobs added over terms since '77: Democrats: +55.1M Republicans: +17.5M Biden: +10.3M(thru Oct'22) Trump: -2.6M lost

tedcruz Cruz proud of his family history of assassinating presidents! JFK = Yup!

Difference/ Sanders have a belief and principle . Traitor Cancun’s vote was in hope of creating hardship on Americans to gain political capital .

tedcruz Even Bernie can be reasonable sometimes which is why the democrat establishment cut off his campaign and installed Hillary as their candidate instead

tedcruz I’m from the government and I’m here to help. Give me a break 🙄

tedcruz Do something for the truckers next. We are literally the backbone of this country. If we don't do our job nobody gets anything.

Pto is now socialism lol

tedcruz Hell we know all of them are together they just play games

tedcruz controlledopGOP

tedcruz It's not socialism. The Republican Party is becoming the working man's refuge.

tedcruz Sick days are a pretty basic benefit for most American companies.

tedcruz Stupid take. He’s for the people. Just not a socialist.

So if tedcruz votes for less restrictions on big business he's a villan and if he votes for more benefits for workers he's a villan, so liberals are just never happy, thats what I'm seeing.

tedcruz I'm a Republican and prior RR worker and I support RR giving employees sick leave

I like this

tedcruz Ted Cruz was a disappointment when he ran for president He has not let me down for being a disappointment such a great resume all b*******

tedcruz I think he was just trying avoid a rail strike. At Christmas! But in truth really I probably would have voted for it too.

tedcruz You should totally share the parade video of you in Houston! The crowd was loving you!

tedcruz “I always knew you loved sick days,” Cruz told Sanders
