'Tariffs worked' — Cramer says Trump's strategy forced China to agree to a trade deal

said Wednesday that "tariffs worked" as a means to prod China to agree to a phase one trade deal with the United States.

"I keep wondering when people are going to recognize that it is historic that tariffs did succeed," Cramer said onshortly before U.S. and Chinese officials were set to sign the initial trade agreement at the White House later in the morning.'s hard line approach towards China.

Obviously Cramer hasn't read the text of the agreement yet.

The Chinese knows that consumers and businesses in the US will ultimately pay. While exporting to other countries are growing. Why bother with the US? And, seemingly the US wins for domestic political purpose since election is near.

Trump had to use tariffs so that he could create a position of strength to negotiate from. The Dems perfer the weakness that was on display during the Obama Administration. When given the choice between strength and weakness the Dems will always choose a weak US
