BEIJING—As U.S. and Chinese officials try to close a trade deal, the punitive tariffs the governments slapped on each country’s goods in the conflict stand as a major obstacle, according to officials and others briefed on the talks.

High-level talks between the U.S. and China resumed Tuesday after U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin arrived in Beijing. Following this week’s Beijing meetings, their counterpart, Vice Premier Liu He, and other Chinese officials will travel to Washington...

We will end up just where we started with little gains. Another Trunp policy to stir up crap with trading partners. He’s a little fish in a big ocean of experts that will just sit there and pounce on weakness.

This administration is always operating from bad faith. Always. They are not to be trusted.

Of course they do. They need the tax revenue to help patch that massive hole caused by their corporate tax cuts. That general fund would be even more bare without the tarrif revenue.

Nothing quite like negotiating in bad faith

The pieces of garbage in the US admin did the same thing to Canada with steel and aluminium tariffs. They have absolutely no honour. Their words and signatures mean absolutely nothing.

Mnuchin always looks like someone said say cheese.
