Fair Play came out of this year's Sundance Film Festival as one of its biggest winners, having been sold to Netflix for $20M. This was an even more impressive feat, considering it was filmmaker Chloe Domont's feature film debut as director and writer — though she has previously proven her mettle with television series such as Ballers and Billions.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich lead Fair Play, playing young lovers Emily and Luke. The film gives viewers a peek into their enthusiastic and giving romance but quickly pulls back the curtain to showcase their competitive work environment. When Emily gets the promotion Luke has been hankering after, the power dynamics shift in a way he can't seem to wrap his mind around.
Cast & Crew on Fair Play at Sundance Screen Rant: Fair Play starts off rather romantic, but then we dive a little into thriller mode. How did you build that dynamic with Alden? Phoebe Dynevor: A great intimacy coordinator, a brilliant director, and an amazing actor. Yeah, we had some rehearsal time, which was great. It was a treat, and we were able to just workshop the dynamic between us and feel safe, which I think is quite important with this film. Phoebe Dynevor: Sadly not in season 3. Potentially in the future. But season 3, I'm just excited to watch as a viewer. Phoebe Dynevor: It's funny, but both of those are actually my two favorite.
Bonus: a swing and miss on the Ironheart question front at the FairPlay premiere! But we thank Alden Ehrenreich for being a good sport regardless. 😁
