Syracuse University suspends 23 students after 'incredibly reckless' gathering

An"incredibly reckless" gathering has brought the suspensions of 23 Syracuse University students, school officials say in a letter.

Syracuse University students gather Wednesday evening.The gathering was Wednesday night about 10 p.m., wrote the dean of students, Marianne Thomson, and the head of public safety, chief Bobby Maldonado, on Thursday. The two called the gathering"incredibly reckless behavior."The simple reason why colleges are reopeningSyracuse University is investigating and reviewing security footage, interviewing witnesses and"processing a number of tips," according to the letter.

Parents didn't want to deprive their children of the college experience. But, it's a PANDEMIC and nothing is NORMAL! I didn't tell my daughter she couldn't go back to campus. I told her she couldn't come back home to visit when she had breaks because I knew. She CHOSE online.

Only peaceful protesters could cause enough damage to shut down an entire school campus.

These are high school graduates who can understand COVID risks being stupid, and some school districts are still demanding kindergarten be in person. Children who cannot yet comprehend how illness is passed and how dangerous it is are sent into harms way. 18 year olds can’t....

Why was on campus learning going on in the first place? This was a completely stupid idea by the university. The student body is largely drawn from the demographic least compliant with mask and social distancing measures. The university should suspend its own administration.
