A suspect is in custody and charged with murder after he allegedly confessed to killing a 31-year-old man Friday afternoon in east Alabama, police said.
Christopher Avantae Summers, 32, of Valley, allegedly told officers he shot Jarez Cytril Ricks, 31, Valley Police Chief Mike Reynolds said in a statement. Valley officers found Ricks suffering from two gunshot wounds to the chest around 2:44 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.After a formal interview with Valley police, Summers was charged with murder and taken to the Chambers County Detention Center as he awaited a bond hearing.Two guns and several shell casings were found at the scene of the shooting.
