Many supermarkets are setting special designated hours when only seniors and others most vulnerable to the coronavirus are invited to shop.Special hours for seniors to shop are just one of the ways grocery stores across the U.S. are adjusting their operations duringSupermarkets are restricting their opening hours to give workers time for cleaning and restocking. They're also limiting how many items people are allowed to buy.
Health experts are still recommending against visiting public places unless absolutely necessary. Federal officials advise against gatherings of 10 or more people. None of the retailers specified plans to restrict the number of visitors to their stores. All Target stores will reserve the first hour of shopping on Wednesdays for"vulnerable guests — including elderly and those with underlying health concerns.

The stores are not enforcing the policy at the door, so many younger shoppers are in the stores anyway.
And should be for first responders, healthcare professionals and those whomever (supporting those who are supposed to stay at home) is dealing with this crisis in the frontline
Our local City Market, a Kroger family store, has also done this and I've personally thanked the store manager. When I last checked, they had plenty of toilet paper, more eggs than a henhouse, and cleaning supplies were coming back.
Perhaps a senior day once a week would be more effective. Some of us seniors were evening or night workers, & we aren’t functional before 11 am.
Great community service!!!!!
Problem is now my supremely immunocompromised grandparents think the store is now 'safe' for them. Multiple family members offering to go / delivering groceries to them. They go to Market Basket daily anyway. I'm happy this is happening for people who truly need it though.
Hope to see “groceries on wheels” to help high risk population shelter in place, everyone can pitch in, ❤️we need a website to take & vet requests, if we do this one thing we’ll, we can restart economy slowly 👍✌️
Pinecrest Florida TARGET let everyone in together.
Nice job, the greatest risk is asymptomatic shedders, elderly are usually symptomatic allowing better control of risks, please help out sick elderly by shopping for them❤️
I really think this person in the picture should be wearing clean gloves to keep from getting the virus from unclean surfaces onto her hands, and a basic dust mask to keep her hands from inadvertently touching her mouth!

Stop complaining about being at a store by 6am. My grandma is up at 4am every morning with a cup of coffee watching the news. RTC picks her up at 5am for the senior gym she’s 81yrs old and uses a walker...trust these seniors got it!
Would be nice to have some first responder and medical staff shopping time set aside too. It’s hard to be on the front lines for 10-12 hours then have to stand in line for basic groceries after the most grueling days you can imagine !!
OkoyeGeneral Took them all long enough
It's ashamed that has to be done, but I'm happy for the people who need it including my parents.
How do you restrict the sales of zero thermometers, zero masks, zero hand sanitizer?
Knock off the paper hoarders.
About time
Senior shopping shouldnt just be early am. But the public needs to change their behavior as well. Enough of the bitching about what stores 'need to do' and do yourself as well. Dont shop unless you need to. Leave plenty for others. Be a leader in your community.
This should've been implemented from the beginning instead of relying on people to be nice and not over purchase or price gouge. Lesson learned for the next crisis I hope.
OH! UNLESS you are disabled. Then only SOME Targets have assistive scooters? With NO plans to acquire any. Because, downtown, mid-sized 'progressive ' city …? I mean, I guess 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽🤦🏽♀️
Baskets need to be fully wiped down. Cashiers need to wipe down stations and touch screens after each customer. Customers, wipe down credit card buttons and touch screens. Wipe down credit cards after use. So much gets overlooked. Wear gloves. Dispose. Wash hands. New gloves.
Yeah, but are they ENFORCING this? 🤔
Unfortunately, many of those times set aside for seniors are 1 day per week, and before regular opening hours. Seniors are supposed to get up before 6 am to try to find basic necessities? Thanks a lot.
The problem with the 'senior shopping hours' is that it puts a whole bunch of the high-risk demographic at one place at the same time.

Good. Maybe everyone can get essentials.
