Jon Cryer shares an old screenshot of himself from Two and a Half Men, joking he could play 'Pete Davidson in the year 2050.' There is a resemblance!

Jon Cryer has joked that he should play an older version of Pete Davidson. Davidson is one of the biggest new standouts from the cast of SNL, largely due to his high-profile relationships with Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian.

Jon Cryer has also bridged the gap between television and film throughout his career. His breakout role was playing Duckie in the iconic John Hughes comedy Pretty in Pink in 1986, and he went on to star in a variety of films afterward. His second huge get was nabbing a lead role opposite Charlie Sheen in the sitcom Two and a Half Men, which ran from 2003 to 2015.

I’ve decided my next role is going to be “Pete Davidson in the year 2050” pic.twitter.com/hsQF8C7ykzThis joke is likely also a subtle reference to How I Met Your Father, which premiered on Hulu last week. The series, which is a gender-swapped spinoff of the long-running ABC sitcom How I Met Your Mother, features Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall in the year 2050, playing an older version of Hilary Duff's character Sophie.

Jon Cryer has certainly uncovered a striking resemblance between himself and the young comedian. If they ever re-swap How I Met Your Mother in another spin-off, the two would be perfectly cast to headline. The pair have only worked together once, on the 2019 comedy Big Time Adolescence, so the moment is ripe for another collaboration, perhaps one where they at least play relatives if not different-aged versions of the same character. .
