Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts reflected on his team’s NFC Championship win, noting that he has had to hold on to his faith amid many doubters early on in his NFL career.

“My first year here, I mean, they probably didn’t even want to draft me here,” Hurts told reporters when asked to reflect on his journey since joining the NFL in the 2020 season as former head coach Doug Pederson was fired following the team’s 4-11-1 finish. “Probably one of those things, but it always handles itself."

The former second-round draft pick shrugged off the notion that he came to the NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles with people who doubted him. "I know that it was a big surprise to many,” Hurts said. “A big surprise to many, but my favorite verse — you know, I went through a lot of stuff in college and it kind of stuck with me — John 13:7: ‘You may not know now but later you’ll understand.’ Hopefully, people understand.”

As Hurts now prepares to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory after becoming the youngest quarterback in franchise history to start in a playoff game at age 23, he is refusing to get caught up in the hype of the moment."I never knew how far we’d go," he said,"but I never said it couldn’t be done."

Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Autumn Lockwood among those making history at Super Bowl LVIIThis Black History Month, one coach, one agent and two players will break barriers at Super Bowl LVII with historic firsts. They should be forced to wear gay pride shirts. 🧐🤣☠️🤡 Would someone please tell Whoopi she is responsible: Viral video shows two boys beating a 9-year-old girl on a school bus in Homestead, Fla. on Feb. 1. The mother of the girl says she has reported bullying to Coconut Palm K-8 Academy but was informed they couldn’t do anything. The narcissism that all this is somehow history is annoying.

Doug Williams: Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts in Super Bowl like Barack Obama electionThirty-five years ago Doug Williams became the first black quarterback to start in — and win — the Super Bowl. This ain’t it chief What is he talking about? If you care what color skin they have, then you are judging them by their skin color and you are racist. Alternatively, I don't think Mahomes' mother was African American? So he's saying the country is fucked.
