The five musicians in the Immediate Family have been part of music history, playing with everyone from Stevie Nicks and Carole King to Keith Richards. Now they are striking out as their own band. I spoke to them about their debut album and more.

Danny Kortchmar: So tragic about Charlie A tragic loss. He's one of those guys that wrote the book, that really wrote the book.

Baltin: When you started working on this record, was it during COVID and was that why everybody was around or it was just a lucky coincidence that everybody was actually in town? Sklar: Yeah, a little out of sync as we would normally do, but this album we were all so happy with it that it really stands on its own. And the kiss of death would be going in and starting to spend time scrutinizing it and then you're just gonna ruin everything. We were happy with it before COVID and it's just been circling the airport dumping fuel waiting to land.

Sklar: Yeah, exactly. But the thing is when we finished up, the last time we played these songs was on this Rock Legends Cruise in February of last year that we did. And we were really at the top of our game and everything. Really the only thing to me personally that's gonna be important now is, before November, is getting together and getting our chops and our heads back up to speed to start touring again.
