After success with country, pop and hip-hop artists over the last few years, Diplo is putting his focus squarely on dance music in 2021. I talked with him about the music and artists from Daft Punk to Skrillex.

Europe Hotspots Opening: France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Italy Ready For Tourists, Travel Pass And Rules For EntryDiplo: I just moved to Malibu recently. During the pandemic I started a studio here and stuff. Surfing and stuff like that. Just been here. But I’m on the road now, I’m back, things are back. I’m out every weekend, Thursday through Sunday, so I’m not even home that often.Diplo: There’s a community here, it’s really small.

Baltin: We’ll tie this in with Higher Ground. This gives you more creative freedom to do the stuff you want to do, when you want to do it. You have a new single with Damien Lazuras and Jungle. How much fun is it to work with different people and just do things as you want? Diplo: I think dance music got so big and popular the last couple years. On the radio and dance records, they got kind of cheesy. But the whole time this is happening, there’s an amazing underground happening the last five, 10 years. When you go to Burning Man, Ibiza or to Mykonos we’d go to underground parties here in the warehouses.

Baltin: In 2020 you weren’t really DJing so you weren’t having to spend a lot of time going back to these songs. For you, are there songs you got to appreciate as a fan, not only the classics but also as your stuff that you didn’t have to play for a year?

UK's Sunak considers cap to annual pension rise - Sunday TimesBritish finance minister Rishi Sunak is considering blocking a near 6% rise in old-age pension payments as part of a wider effort to rein in the cost of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's spending, the Sunday Times newspaper said. Correct move. Hard working salaried people should leave UK if they can. Taxes are so heavy. And you can’t escape it. A significant proportion of economy is underground and pay no taxes. Rich employ tax advisers who draft HMRC rules. Or organise to vote for people who will represent you. One of the lowest pensions in Europe getting even lower. Taking back control? ToryCriminals
