) - It’s an exciting day for students in the city of Mobile as FuzzyButts bee observation takes place in our area.The Herb Society of America is helping to save the bee population across the country with the help of several students.

“I’m a teacher at heart. And when I did this by myself last year, I thought we’ve got to get kids involved. We’ve got to get the community involved. And so that’s where it started. Reaching out for kids to be proactive in the community. To do something that makes a difference,” Debra Morrow said. 22 students from Bright Academy, Little Flower Catholic School, and Kingdom Academy were tasked with watching bumblebees for thirty minutes on native herbs to bring awareness to the bumblebee population.

Bumblebee numbers are declining, and this can help to highlight the importance of planting native herbs for their food source.“Well it’s really important for conservationist to take action. Bumblebees are slowly declining because of colony class disorder caused by mites and other stuff like parasites that come from mites,” Louis McMaster said.

“He’s aware that if our current generation doesn’t pay attention and doesn’t make measurement of what’s happening around us, we will not have the information that we need to take action,” Marie Migaud said.Mobile police make arrest in deadly Prairie Avenue shooting
