Spotify reportedly controls 31 percent of the market.

Apple and Amazon Music have reported market shares of 15 and 13 percent

Based on Midia’s claim that there were 523.9 million total music streaming subscribers in Q2 2021, this suggests Spotify had just over 162.4 million subscribers paying for its music streaming service . Midia’s estimates would then put Apple Music at almost 78.6 million subscribers for the quarter, and Amazon Music and China-exclusive Tencent Music at a little over 68.1 million each. YouTube Music follows up in fifth place with an 8 percent market share corresponding to 41.9 million subscribers.

According to Midia, the music streaming market is continuing to grow, and increased by 26.4 percent to the second quarter of last year. Although Spotify’s commanding lead means it’s unlikely to be overtaken anytime soon, Midia notes that its market share dropped from 33 percent in Q2 2020 to 31 percent in Q2 2021, and its growth was outperformed by Amazon and YouTube Music, with the latter growing by over 50 percent compared to a year earlier.

Given these figures date back to the second quarter of last year, they’re unlikely to show the full impact of the lossless audio streaming changes that were made last year. Apple Music, for example, added

Tidal is not even on the list 😅

No ads on YouTube and music. Better than apple and Spotify

Deezer is the best

I was surprised not to see Tidal. I use YTM only because of YT Premium. As a music service, it sucks. Google Music was way better. googlemusic

Glad to know us YouTube Music users aren't mainstream right now lmao. Honestly, if anyone has legit criticism for YT Music, lemme know. Im too stubborn to switch to another app without good reason.

I don't think anyone would actually use youtube music if it wasn't bundled with youtube premium, but its actually a really neat service for the price

And here I am using Blackhole to listen to music

Poor Pandora. They were the first and now they're 'Other'

deray This is kind of a misleading chart. It’s based on subscriptions. YouTube is one of (if not the biggest I believe) music streaming services in the world but does not require a subscription. They also pay songwriters the least.

Apple just needs a free version and it'll be GG

Apple Music much better than Spotify, and YT Music have alot of issues include draining battery so fast, if google will fix those issues I will say yt is the best

The different with YouTube Music is its not just that, you also get YouTube premium with it, which is worth it all by itself. The music is just a massive plus meaning I don't have ti subscribe to any of this other bs

Lol why is Google so bad at this? 😆 Not as bad as they are at chat apps but their failure to even secure third place with all their resources is amazing

Yet Spotify drag their feet on High-Res, HD audio.

Tencent Music?

Tidal, Deezer, Spotify & YouTube Music

flames broski 😈

Curious if YouTube music is just that app? I thought YouTube it's self is where the most music is technically streamed.

Tidal is the best

yandexmusic топчик

Where’s Tidal?

deray I have all the music I like on my phone... 2k or more, on my phone. I'm not subscribing to listen to wherever song I'm feeling like listing to wherever I'm at.

This goes deep

Am just surprised YouTube music is not at a higher point

My Naim & Dynaudio audio setup sounds better with Apple Music. Sorry Spotify.

I'm shocked at how high Amazon Music is -- it never looked all that appealing to me compared to basically any other music streaming service..

Team Apple Music for life

Free YouTube music with premium subscription so why not

Now do actual song plays…

tf is netease, yandex or deezer?

jorjejaj I'm Amazon because it bundles with my Prime membership. I have a 45 song playlist that I stream to my Bluetooth hearing aids while I'm doing my kitchen chores. Love it!

I love my Spotify plus i get free Hulu from it as well

It’s mad how Deezer used to be so high

Amazon Music numbers need to take out practically everyone with an Amazon Prime account. Like nobody uses it. Lol

deezer nuts

Apple pays the artists way more than Spotify and Amazon, if you ❤️ music industry stick with AppleMusic

I moved back to Spotify after 6 months bc 🍎 Music is terrible at discovery. Spotify playlists have suggestions at the bottom and this is great. I missed new songs bc Apple Music didn’t suggest new songs. I’m catching up no thanks to Apple Music.

I've never considered Spotify! It's been YouTube music for me since I get no ads on YouTube too included. No ads on YouTube is most important to me lol

spotify will always be the best

Wow. Really surprised how low YT Music is, I use it every day and love it. Subscription also adds ad-free Youtube which is the main reason I went with them.

YouTube premium + YouTube music = $10 (grandfather pricing)

Most of the time I’m hopping between different trials and promos between Apple, Google and Amazon. Spotify is most like old fashioned radio the way I’ve used it.

How many paid vs free subscriptions?

Really amazon over YouTube interesting

Spotify doesn't have Joanna Newsom, therefore it will never be worth subscribing to them. Plus they are among the worst, if not THE worst at paying artists. I'll go out of my way to buy CDs at merch tables to support artists I love financially.

No surprises there.

tidal?

Spotify is terrible.

These numbers are off by a lot- never let the verge do numbers-

Spotify

No TIDAL ?

Amazon music is most Underrated and Value offering of them all AmazonMusic

Still waiting for Spotify HiFi

Deezer for all free music

Yandex 🤔

AppleMusic sucks!

That's a huge market damn

elonmusk When AppleMusic in a Tesla ?

Spotify Comfortably Remains The Biggest Streaming Service Despite Its Market Share Being Eaten IntoResearch company MIDiA reports that there were 523.9 million paying subscribers on music streaming services globally in the second quarter of 2021, an increase of 26.4% from the same period in 2020. Would be nice if they paid artists more than peanuts. And got rid of Rogan. Until then, they won't get respect.

Apple and Google oppose Senate antitrust efforts, claiming they'd hurt consumer security | EngadgetWith the Senate Judiciary Committee scheduled to discuss the American Innovation and Choice Online Act and the Open App Markets Act this week, Apple and Google are stepping up their opposition to both bills.. this is no longer a concern as hypercapsoc requires these mergers as we exodus the workforce en masse. this will be authorized by consensus. So they refuse any sort of third-party options on their software, but don’t want sideloading because their security is better? IMO they shouldn’t be able to have it both ways.
