The first showers were predicted to hit the North Bay late Wednesday night, but weather service forecaster Matt Mehle said the latest weather models show them arriving this afternoon.
On Thursday morning, pop-up showers could deliver brief bouts of small hail; snow could fall on the tallest mountain peaks, including mounts Tamalpais, Diablo, Hamilton and Umunhum. "It has some moisture associated with it but it's not a pineapple express. ... Those have a deeper moisture tap from Hawaii," Mehle said on the phone.
